Insecurity: Apostolic Church president, Igwe condemns killing of security operatives

The National President of Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Apostle Samuel Igwe has condemned the coordinated attacks on security Operatives aiming at weakening the security architecture of the nation.

The cleric made this known during a World Press Conference with newsmen over the weekend at Uyo headquarters of the church.

Igwe lamented that the security personnel being killed on a daily basis are people’s husband, father, relative and cousin which should raise concern.

Recalled that no fewer than six Police officers including a wife of an officer were killed following an attack by on Divisional Police headquarters, Odoro Ikpe  in Ini LGA of Akwa Ibom State by unknown gunmen on Saturday morning.

The Cleric urged all Nigerians to be vigilant and security conscious by providing necessary information to security agencies whenever they observe strange happenings in their environment.

“Citizens must wake up, if they see anything that does not look familiar in their environment, they should report, but, I know one day the insecurity will end, we have to play our role. Security men and women are not Angels neither are they spirits, they act on information, so, when we see something, we should say something to help our nation.

Igwe alleged that part of the insecurity has a close link with some fraudulent  and corrupt politicians who are always in the habit of giving arms to thugs to help them win election and after the election those arms still remain in the hands of the thugs where they use to terrorize people.

Commenting on the issue of restructuring, he said restructuring is a process and must begin from the heart, adding that if the mindset is not restructured the very essence of restructuring may be defeated.

“Even if you restructured up and down, when the heart has not been changed, there is going to be trouble. I believe that our hearts need to be reformed and transformed. That is why we are insisting on evangelism and preaching of the word of God.

Speaking on the qualities Nigerians must elect as their leaders in 2023, the cleric said they must look for leaders who are God-fearing, noting that a leader who fear God would neither give bribe nor accept same.

Igwe further warned citizens against being carried away by peanut that will be thrown by politicians when election comes in other to blind their eyes.

“Many times we make the mistake when we want to do election, politicians will come with rice and stockfish when you take that and vote them, they will go and will not remember you until they want election again.

“So this time,I think we have to be very careful. The Bible says in Proverbs 14 verse 13, that righteousness exalt the nation. We will look for leaders who are God-fearing. And these God-fearing people will not give you bribe or take bribe as it is done in other parts of the world.
