Include more women in elective positions – YMSI tells Tinubu

Young Moms Support Initiative has tasked incoming Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to include more women in decision making and elective positions in his administration.

The Founder and CEO, Dr Vivian Sonny-Nsirim, who gave the charge in Abuja at the symposium on the development of African women and public presentation of the book titled: “Diary of an African Woman” (exploring the highs and lows of womanhood) .

She said this became necessary ,adding that the incoming goverment should empower women and youths in skill acquisition programs.

She attributed the spate of issues in marriages to lack of financial sustainability and lack of empowerment among women.

On the uniqueness of the book, Dr Vivian explained that the book encompasses and summaries alot such as pressures and solution of getting married, Mother and Daughter relationships .

Others are; mother and son relationship, mother and inlaw relationships, how to pray, how to take care of themselves as women and their husband.

In her words, ” When you are happy, you can be able to give out. You can’t give out what you don’t have. In the book there is inspiration”.

She said the book is an encyclopedia of women in the book and every woman need the book to take care of themselves and their daughters.

She urged Universities and tertiary institutions to pick the book and also be placed in the libraries .

She explained that Young Moms Support Initiative seek to empower women and children for a better society and that the initiative is one of the largest online community of young women globally.

According to her, the initiative is set to establish young moms academy because so many women are into so many vices because of lack of skills .

” We want to add to what others are already doing. We also will continue to talk to the Tradirional rulers and work with the women at the grassroot on perception of early marriages and it effect,”she said .

Also, the Yakanaje of Uke, Karu LGA,Dr Ahmed Abdullahi called on the need to promote unity among the women and the male gender .

He described Dr Vivian as the mirror of the Kingdom and also an example of what very few women in the society has.

“She is an Igbo lady but she associates herself with the North Central and Fulani Emirates in Nasarawa state. It is the absolute unity we r looking for and absolute new Nigeria and progressive Nigeria we need,”he said.
