In Imo, ex-top government official joins Labour Party

While addressing the National Vice Chairman of the party (South East), Agumba Innocent Okeke, and other chieftains, Prof. Dike expressed happiness in joining the party which he said had become a movement in the country.

He described the LP presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, as a Nigerian son and not just Igbo, becsuse his approach to issues was nationalistic in nature, and that most people supporting him were from other parts of the country.

“And if you watch, you will understand that God is positioning him for something great,” he said.

Prof Dike, who is also the leader of Orlu Elders Forum and a staunch member of Imo Elders Forum, said he hoped to witness a debate between Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu to give Nigerians an opportunity to assess the candidates on their programmes for the country to enable electorate vote wisely in the coming election.

He praised Nigerian youth for identifying with Obi after seeing that he was the person sent by God to make them actualise their dreams.

“As for me, I am concerned about Peter Obi’s movement because that is where the future for my children lies,” he said.

Responding, the LP vice chairman, Agumba Okeke commended Prof. Dike for identifying with the party.

He said the party was formed to be victorious, and designed for the common man right from the time of former National Chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, to the current man, Abure.

Okeke, who commended Prof. Dike for identifying with the party, assured that with Obi as President, issues of insecurity, agitation and bad economy would be drastically reduced.

He further said that “Labour Party has put everything in place to ensure that Peter Obi wins convincingly. If they say that Obi is only on social media, they are saying it at their own peril.”
