Two lawmakers of the Imo state House of Assembly, Hon. Kennedy Ibe of Obowo and Hon. Mike Iheanetu of Aboh Mbaise state constituencies, have called on the federal government to do everything to reclaim the federal road that links Mbaise and Obowo LGs in Imo state and Umuahia LGA of Abia state.
According to them, this is to prevent the people of Imo state from being cut off from their neighbours in Abia state.
It would be noted that the continued heavy downpour resulting from climate change has steadily eroded a major part of the road and made it impassable for both motorists and commuters.
Just last weekend, commuters travelling from Owerri to Mbaise, Obowo, Umuahia and even Akwa Ibom state saw hell as they found their vehicles inside bushes, while trying to explore new routes to avoid the bad spot on that road.
In the process, some vehicles had burst tyres, while some had scratches on their bodies.
