Imo guber: PDP accuses Uzodimma of budgeting N5bn for hotel reservations

The Governorship Campaign Council OF the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Imo state chapter, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of budgeting the sum of N5 billion for hotel reservations during the November 11 governorship election in the state.

The party said the aim is to prevent election observers from having hotel accommodation from where they will monitor the election.

The party also alleged that the plan was to accommodate foreign election riggers from China, South Korea and other five states from the South-west region of the country in the hotels from where  they will hack into the BVAS machines to malfunction on the day of the election.

This, they said, emanated from a leaked memo from the Commissioner for Tourism, Jerry Egemba, to hotel managers in the state.

It was also alleged that the commissioner threatened to demolish any hotel that fails to comply with the state government’s directive over the reservations.

The party called on security agencies to beam their searchlights on hotels in the state during the election, so as to fish out those election riggers.

However, in a swift reaction, the Imo APC Governorship Campaign Council denied, saying it was to ward off thugs and miscreants, which the opposition had concluded plans to import into the state.
