Imbibe business management skills, NDE advises BBT beneficiaries

The director-general, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, has advised the 65 Basic Business Training (BBT) beneficiaries to rise to the challenge of embracing business management skills “for a sound and robust economic growth.”

He gave the advice while speaking at the ceremony of the BBT held at the Directorate’s State Office in Kano Friday.

He noted that most developed nations did not achieve economic prosperity “because of the large corporations that exist, but through small scale businesses based on the informal sector that provides employment to the majority of their populace.”

Fikpo, who was represented by the Kano State Office coordinator, Malam Inuwa Abdullahi Adamu, said the NDE encouraged the formation of small businesses through its enterprise creation scheme.

“The targets of these programmes are graduates, school leavers, and artisans; the four core programmes of the Directorate include rural employment promotion, special public works, vocational skills development and small scale enterprises which are conducting this training commencing today.

“At this juncture, I wish to inform you that the NDE is aware of the huge challenges of unemployment and the associated anti- social behaviour that prevail in the country at the moment it is in view of this that we have re-directed our strength at collaborating with the minded organisations; public and private to ensure that more persons leave the unemployment market,” he said.
