It’s our turn to produce next governor – Kogi West agitators

The people of western senatorial district of Kogi state have appealed to the political stakeholders and leaders in the state to cede the next governorship position to the west “in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice.”

The people gathered in large numbers on Friday in Lokoja to agitate for the position in the November 2023 poll slated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the governorship election.

Their spokesman, Dr. Abdulsalam Bawa Dangana, said in line with the principle of equity, justice and fairness Kogi state has been operating a system of understanding and cooperation in the governance of the state, where the Kogi East had occupied the position for some years with appreciable peace, harmony and infrastructure development.

Dangana noted that for fairness, equity and justice, it is expected that with agitations and plea Kogi-west should be allowed and supported to produce and occupy the position of governor of the state.

“That is the reason we are in solidarity with our leader Senator Smart Adeyemi representing Kogi west senatorial district at the National Assembly and we are appealing to other Senators in the state who have been working together for the development and growth of the state to support our agitation.

“We, the indigenes of Kogi state, particularly Kogi west senatorial district, the youth, the elderly and women, have come out in our large numbers to agitate for the governorship of the state to be zone to our district in the next governorship election.

“So, it is our time, our turn and we are pleading, agitating and appealing to the political leaders in the state to actualise this our request and agitation for us in the interest of Kogi state,” he said.
