A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state and likely governorship aspirant in the 2019 gubernatorial election, Alhaji Umar Ahmed Rijau, has dismissed allegation that he is fronting for Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, instead insisted that the APC-led administration in the state has failed the people.
Rijau stated this yesterday added that the PDP in the state was ready to reclaim the power it lost to the APC in 2015, adding that he was fully prepared for the race, come 2019.
Rijau, also known as Dogo Koli, lambasted those peddling the false rumour that he was fronting for Governor Sani Bello describing them as “enemies of progress and sycophants at governor”.
The former lawmaker said that he has established strong political structures across the state adding that the spread was enough to earn him the PDP governorship ticket and eventually victory in the governorship election.
He expressed the confidence that PDP would bounced back in 2019 stressing that the current reconciliatory measures were working wonders and helping to reposition the party take back what it lost to APC in the last elections.
“I am ready to provide prudent and development driven leadership. We have enough resources in Niger state to beef up our internally generated revenue. We have no reason to be waiting for federal allocations every month when we have more than enough resources to improve our internal revenue if properly harnessed. This is one aspect of my blueprint in seeking for the governorship of the state”, he said.
