I’ll forward your demands to incoming gov, Bello assures Niger workers

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has assured that the over 20- point lingering demands by the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) will be forwarded to the incoming administration. Saying that the outgoing government did its best, the governor added Monday while addressing workers at the parade to mark May Day celebrations in Minna that, ‘all issues raised as lingering demands will be forwarded to the incoming administration.’

Represented by the state Head of Service Hajiya Salamatu Abubakar , the governor said his administration had maintained very cordial working relationship with the NLC adding that the leadership of the organised labour was able to achieve so much with the support of the administration over the years as testified to by the state chairman of NLC, Comrade Idrees Lafene.

He said: “As enumerated by the state Chairman of NLC, we may have achieved a lot while more need to be done. In 8 years, we have motivated and emphasised professionalism. I therefore commend the NLC for its show of dedication.”

The Niger state chairman of NLC, Comrade Idrees Abdulkareem Lafene, had earlier appealed to the governor to consider and immediately address the enumerated lingering demands as parting gift to Niger state civil servants.

He listed some of the lingering demands to include improving the general security of the state, sustainable policy on settling backlog of gratuities, reverting the Niger state Joint Account Principal Law as amended 2001and other extant laws in the administration of local government funds.
