I won’t retrench Oyo workers if elected, Folarin assures civil servants

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Senator Teslim Folarin, Monday said he has no plan to sack any civil servant if he wins Saturday’s governorship election.

While speaking during interaction with top civil and public servants in Oyo state, Senator Folarin said the insinuation that he was attempting to sack those employed under the administrations of Governor Seyi Makinde and Senator Abiola Ajimobi was untrue and mere political propaganda.

The APC governorship candidate added that as far as he is concerned, he stands for politics of development and therefore has no reason to retrench workers if elected governor.

“I urge pensioners, civil and public servants in Oyo state to discountenance fake news being spread by the agents of the outgoing PDP government that I’ll retrench workers. I was a civil servant in UK for almost 20 years before venturing into partisan politics. Likewise, my running-mate, Dr. Taiwo Okunlola, was also a civil servant for almost 22 years (8 years as secondary school teacher and 14 years as a university lecturer),”  he said.

Senator Folarin added, “Both of us cannot afford to fail the private, civil and public servants in Oyo state. Oyo state workers and pensioners are in safe hands.

“It is a statement of fact that civil and public servants under Governor Seyi Makinde of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are being under-utilised with consultants engaged to take over their statutory responsibilities. An average civil/public official operates in an unfavorable working environment. Civil service rules and procedures are being relegated to the background.”

The APC governorship candidate stated further, “with a mindset of immediate rescue, I assure that both public and civil service will be repositioned for a better, vibrant and efficient service delivery as laid down by our progenitors.”
