I will end kidnapping in Anambra, says gov-elect

Governor-elect of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano, has assured that the incessant cases of kidnapping in the state would be put to an end under his administration which would commence on March 17, 2014.

Obiano who was at the State House in Abuja yesterday as part of a delegation ‎that visited President Goodluck Jonathan, said there would be a security conference with all stakeholders to chart a way forward for the state.
He said the state would train vigilantes and the police and equip them with modern facilities to fight crimes.

He said: “Under my watch kidnapping will be a thing of the past for the following reasons: first, as soon as I am sworn in, there is going to be a security conference where all the stakeholders in Anambra will come, and beyond that we are going to do a lot of things that the present administration has started, in the area of equipping the vigilante and training them appropriately, in the area of equipping the police, in the area of youth employment because where most of the youths are employed then the rascal few will be easily policeable. So, we going to ensure that crime in particular kidnapping is a thing of the past.”
