Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken responsibility for the presence of cows roaming parts of Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, Wike apologised for the situation, saying he accepts responsibility for the continued movement of cattle on city roads.

He noted that road projects executed by the FCT Administration are based on nominations from residents of the capital city, stressing that such projects are designed to improve access and reduce insecurity.

According to him, ongoing infrastructure development in both the city centre and satellite towns includes roads, water projects, and residential facilities for public officers.

“We don’t just stand and say let’s do these roads, the people appoint and nominate the road that they want to be of use to them and it helps in terms of reducing insecurity and having access to their farm lands,” he said.

Wike also reiterated plans to commission several projects alongside the President as part of activities marking his third year in office.

“I apologise that up till now there are cows still roaming the streets of Abuja, I take responsibility,” he added.
