How terrorists invaded Sokoto school, kidnapped children 48 hours after Kaduna incident

Unspecified number of terrorists on Saturday invaded Islamiya school and kidnapped up to 16 children in Bakuso village of Gada Local Government of Area (LGA) in Sokoto state.

Those abducted included 15 males and one female.

Confirming the incident, a member representing Gada east in Sokoto state House of Assembly, Hon Kabiru Dauda, in a telephone interview with Blueprint Newspapers, said the bandits attacked the village at early hours of the day while shooting sporadically. 

He said one person was shot, and has been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to him, the victims were school pupils between the age of 8 and 14 years.

“I received a distress calls from the village around 2 am informing me that Bakuso village was invaded by bandits,” he said.

Also, in another interview, a villager who does not want his name on print lamented that the terrorists’ attacks and other criminal activities especially in the same axis have become alarming and on daily occurrence.

The Proprioter of the school, Malam Liman Abubakar, explained that the bandits came in commando style shooting sporadically and as a result shot one person at exactly 1am.

He however, said the school is still counting to ascertain the exact number of those abducted.

He said it was not the first time the village was attacked by the bandits.

Similarly, some terrorists attacked and killed three persons at Turnsa village in Isa LGA of the state, including the village head .

Narrating the incident, the member representing Isa constituency in the Sokoto state House of Assembly, Alhaji  Habibu Hallilu Modaci, said the incident was a reprisal after security operations raided terrorists’ hideouts few days ago.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, said he was not aware of the development, but he would contact the Divisional Police Officer of the LGA.
