Hardship: NLC factions stage separate protests in Imo

The two factions of the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) Imo State Chapter Tuesday, successfully held their protests in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

While the government backed faction led by Comrade Uche Nwigwe protested at the Government House Owerri, where they were received by the former chief of staff to the governor, Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie, who represented the governor, the other faction recognised by the national body held its protest at its headquarters along Portharcourt Road Owerri.

Both factions lamented the hardship being faced by Nigerians and the bad economic policies made by the federal government and called for  immediate action to arrest the situation.

Comrade Nwigwe further called on the federal government to approve a living wage for workers, capable of taking them home as the current N30,000.00 or N40,000.00 was no longer tenable in the present situation.

On the ideal living wage, he said the national body was still negotiating with the federal government and that whatever was agreed upon would become law afterwards.
