Eyewitnesses alleged that the invasion followed the killing of one of a rivalry gang members along the popular Sangana Street around the Port Harcourt flyover where about two police divisions are situated.

The situation caused a chotic situation in the affected areas, especially around Ikwerre road axis from Education Bus stop, Afikpo Street, Nsuka and its adjoining streets where people were seen running without knowing the actual cause of the tension.
