An unidentified gunmen raided a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), in Abule-Ori, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun state, Saturday, leaving one pastor dead and seven worshipers kidnapped.
The Commander of the Ogun state government’s security outfit, So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, has confirmed the tragic event.
He revealed that his officers successfully rescued the seven abducted church members and neutralized one of the kidnappers during a daring operation.
Providing further details, the director of information and public Relations of So-Safe, Moruf Yusuf, stated the tragic incident.
He said, “The special operation team of the Corps, Owode-Egba Zonal Command, under ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi, received a distress call that some members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area were attacked during a vigil, while seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.
“The seven victims were rescued unhurt, while one of the kidnappers was killed and many of the suspects sustained a serious injury during an exchange of gunfire.”
At the time of filling the report, no official statement has been released by the Ogun state government regarding the incident.
