Guber Poll: Observers condemn intimidation of APC agents in Taraba

The African Union (AU), Economic, Social and Cultural Council, ( ECOSOCC) observing the governorship and state House of Assembly elections in Taraba state have on Monday condemned the intimidation and brutal beating of APC agents in some local government areas of Taraba state.

The Nigeria Representative of AU, ECOSOCC Dr Tunji Asaolu, while briefing journalists in Jalingo said “the just concluded Taraba state governorship and House of Assembly elections were characterised by irregularities, beating of APC agents and intimidation.”

He said there was massive rigging and thump printing in multiple ways for a particular party.

“We observed that some polling units in areas control by the ruling party in the state had thugs terrorising, intimidation and brutally beating up of some agents of one of the major opposition party in Vakude and Warwar village respectively.

And we observed that  it is the boys of the speaker of the Taraba state house of assembly, Mr Abel Peter Diah that are behind all this act in Vakude”  he said.

He said the Taraba state commissioner of education,  Mr Johanese Jigem, Mr kyari and others were arrested in Mambilla plateau with thumb printed ballot papers and fake result sheets that were intended to be substituted with authentic results to favour PDP. 

He added that in Ardo Kola LGA, an INEC official and SDP agent were bribed with the sum of 250,000 Naira only to allowed the PDP to influence the results against the will of the people.

“We say Kudos to the security agents who are on the top of the matters”, he added.
