Govt raises panel to resolve Osun Poly leadership crisis

The Osun state government has moved to settle the leadership crisis at the state polytechnic, Iree.

Consequently, Governor Ademola Adeleke has set up a seven-man investigative panel to look into all matters that led to the suspension of Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo as rector of the polytechnic.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) in the polytechnic had shut down the school after a protest against the suspension of Odetayo for alleged financial impropriety and subsequent replacement of Alabi Adeyemi by the government.

The ASUP chairman, Fatai Afolabi, said the union rejected the acting rector because he was not qualified to occupy the position.

He said, “The person that was appointed in ranking among the chief Lecturer, he is not ranked from one to fifty. The only thing that qualifies him is that he is from Ede. The governor is nepotistic with appointments and dealings in Iree Poly. The governor wants to put Ede indigenes everywhere in the school which is not possible. Is it only Ede that voted for him? Everybody voted for him.”
