The Gombe State House of Assembly over the weekend, adopted a motion and passed a resolution demanding some committees within the House to investigate the attempt to withdraw  Bingham University Medical students from Special Grand Education Scheme of the state.

The House ordered that, it’s committee on health in collaboration with the committee on education should look into the matter and report to the larger House within a week.
These resolutions were made following a heated debate by the House over government decision to withdraw the sponsorship bond of 45 medical students of the said University owned by Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) under the grounds that the Institution was, ‘illegal’.

Introducing the motion, member representing Billing South Constituency, Mr Rambi Ibrahim Ayala of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  challenged the executive decision,  saying, such could frustrate the effort on bridging the manpower need in the State’s health sector.
The state government over the years had introduced the Special Grand Scheme for indigenous medical students studying in both public and private institutions.
The withdrawal decision however, has been purported to have emanated from the Ministries for Higher Education and that of Finance demanding the cutting of sponsorship/bond of the students.
