Ahead of Anambra State 18th November, 2017 gubernatorial poll, Anambra New Generation Vanguard comprising of over 21 various youth groups, has asked Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo, an oil magnet and foremost philanthropist, to declare for the position within 21 days.

ANGV, which promises to support Onunkwo financially, morally and otherwise to oust Governor Willie Obiano from office, says it took the decision “After an in depth analysis of the role of the youths since inception of Anambra as it regards governance and political leadership coupled to the fact that the youths were before now seen as worthy tools in the hands of politicians to rig themselves and perpetuate in power.

“The Younger Generation of Anambrarians have resolved that this is the time for the youths to be seen as responsible stakeholders with respect to state governance. This is why we are giving backing to this young credible man whose rising profile marches with the aspiration of the youths to present not just a youth but a young man with a sound academic background, leadership skills, and philanthropist who has touched the lives of many despite earning a monthly salary.

“We believed on him because after he engaged us and other young great minds across the country on a session called Anambra Youth Summit held on February 24th 2017, our eyes opened to see our future. We discussed our future, our tomorrow and the possible ways forward. This gave us responsibility to believe, reason, and rally round to support a youth as governor come November 18, 2017.
“Young Anambrarians have decided that credible young people like him who have a defined source of livelihood should be supported to come out and expunge the notion that the youths are not equipped to take

over leadership. We are not tools for thugery and violence in Anambra politics. Our parents will see reason to support us and collectively we will protect our votes to ensuring that Onunkwo becomes the next governor of Anambra state irrespective of whatever political party he chooses to realise this dream.”
The youth body disclosed this in a communiqué it issued at the end of its stakeholders meeting in Awka.  The communiqué was jointly signed by seven youth organisations operating in the state and read by Hon. Engr. Obiora Ezeudu as spokesman.
