In a bid to cushion the adverse effects of COVID-19, the Senator representing Gombe central senatorial district, Sen. Muhammad Danjuma Goje, at the weekend, donated foodstuffs comprising Macaroni, pasta and sugar to thousands of women in his constituency.
Other items donated by the senator are hand sanitizers, antiseptic soaps, and wrappers.
Delivering the items on behalf of the senator to various wards committees for onward distribution to the beneficiaries, Alhaji Danjuma Babayo, Alhaji Adamu PA and Alhaji Adamu Abubakar said 70 – 80 women in each of the 22 wards of Akko and Yamaltu Deba local government areas are to benefit from the gesture.
They added that the intervention, according to Goje, is aimed at supporting his constituents as well as complement the efforts of the federal and state governments in easing the challenges being faced at this trying time.
They further stated that the senator has given a token of N10,000 to each of the ward committees for logistics.
Senator Goje had few days ago donated trucks of rice and cash to individuals, religious and community leaders as well as the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the constituency.
