Give Tinubu more time to reposition Nigeria, Afenifere chieftain urges Nigerians

The President, Afenifere World Congress, Prince Bayo Ogunmeno, on Sunday asked Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu in his effort to reposition Nigeria.

Prince Ogunmeno in a statement in Ibadan declared that at present, President Tinubu is making frantic efforts to reposition the country and needed more time.

The Afenifere chieftain emphasised that Tinubu meant well for the country but that he needed to be given more time to carry out his agenda of turning the country around.

“President Tinubu met a terrible state of affairs. He has been trying to reposition the country, but this will definitely take time. I plead with Nigerians to please give our President more time”, he said.

Ogunmeno added, “He knows what he is doing. He has the capability and capacity to turn around the fortune of the country, but Rome is not built in a day. Nigeria is also a federal state, we should also put the state governors on the spot and assess their performance”.

“Few months ago, President Tinubu released N5 billion to the state governors as palliative. He said the governors should buy and distribute rice and other grains for the people of their states. But we all know what happened. Though the president meant well, but some of the governors did not purchase or distribute rice to their people.

“Who do we blame? Governors have usurped the functions of the Local Governments chairmen. It is terrible, President Tinubu met a terrible state of affairs. He has been trying to reposition the country, but this will definitely take time”, he said.

Prince Ogunmeno who is the Chairman, State of Kansas Branch,  APC-USA pointed out that the level at which the country was before President Tinubu took over was precarious, saying the country had deteriorated so badly and that patience is the key word now.
