Ganduje deserves kudos on Kano LG polls – APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Alhaji Musa Danbirni Thursday commended Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state for spearheading the task of ensuring a smooth transition of elected council chairmen, weeks after the conduct of the election in the state.

Speaking to newsmen in Kano, Danbirni said with the smooth transition conducted devoid of rancour and acrimony, the business of governance is poised to be conducted, adding that the expectation of the electorate could best be fulfilled with the third tier of governance having considerable face lift.

He said effecting a smooth transition of elected government is an arduous task that can only be handled and entrenched by a governor who possesses the political will to spearhead such a move. He said allowing sole administrators to hold sway is a bad omen for the present democratic dispensation in the country.

He said: “The business of local government administration is for the third tier of governance to get the financial muscle to forge ahead. Once they get the money to execute projects, the quest for effective service delivery would be ensured.”

“The issue of financial autonomy is an indispensable aspect of service delivery. What the state government should do is to set a formidable mechanism of ensuring probity, accountability and honesty in governance to prevail. if at a certain point, a Local government chairman is found wanting, he should without hesitation be brought to book no matter who happened to be his god-father, ” he stated.
