Future is bright for women football in Nigeria – Ijamilusi

Robo FC and Nigeria U20 female national team forward, Folashade Ijamilusi, has predicted a bright future for women football in the country.

Speaking in a chat with the media, the rising star who is a product of Lagos-based Springsoca academy, hinged her optimism on the rising pool of young talented players presently making their marks on the local scene, as well as knocking on the doors of the senior national team.

Despite the not-too-impressive outing of the senior female team, the Super Falcons, at the ongoing FIFA world cup, the Ekiti State born highly rated youngster said the team was not disgraced at the mundial.

Ijamilusi, 18, while commending the organisers of the female football league, however, admonished the administrators of the game not to rest of their oars.

She was also quick to warn that other African countries are improving and moving their football forward and are now challenging the dominance of Nigeria on the continent.

Speaking on her future in the game, Ijamilusi said her target for now is to continue improving her game.

She stated that playing in the Super Falcons and also joining the professional ranks outside the country, are her ultimate target.
