Firm donates 37 solar-powered irrigations projects, to create 37m jobs in 36 states, FCT

A firm that specializes on the development of water facilities and renewable energy, Fordmarx Nigeria Limited has declared it readiness to donate 37 solar- powered water boreholes and 37 solar-powered irrigations projects across all the states of the federation.

It also said it would create a minimum of 37million jobs for Nigerians for Nigerians across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Oforbuike Clifford Nnajimade, made the pledge while commemorating the 2024 World Water Day in Abuja on Friday.

According to Oforbuike, the company is also offering to train free-of-charge, 10 engineers and technicians in its industry, per State of the Federation, plus FCT, Abuja, thereby empowering at least 370 trained engineers and technicians in the industry, in Nigeria.

“Subject to the requisite cooperation of the various Governments throughout Nigeria, it is our ultimate desire to create a minimum of 37Million jobs in our industry, across the States and the FCT, Abuja. Once this feat is accomplished, it will have tremendous positive implications and multiplier for access to good potable water, good health, and food security, through the modern solar-powered irrigations infrastructure,” he assured.

He said without doubts, solar-powered irrigations infrastructure alone, can create more than 50 million jobs nationwide, in just one year.

He lamented the rate at which Nigerians are still drinking unwholesome water and rely on all manner of unclean water for their domestic activities, saying, many Nigerians are victims of this inefficient and ineffective governance system.

“Over the years, Fordmarx Nigeria Ltd has sunk boreholes in communities, using solar power. We have provided solar irrigation for farmers, to enable them farm all year round, and in the process, not only solve the twin problems of hunger and unemployment, but also contribute to the development and growth of the economy.

“As matter of fact, using only solar, we generated more than 8 million cubic meter of water at the site, which generates billions of naira every year if we were to sell the water.

“Fordmarx Nigeria Ltd is irrevocably committed to achieving the foregoing lofty commitments. Consequently, we call on all tiers of Governments throughout the Federation, and indeed, all legislative Houses thereat, to partner with us by providing the necessary enabling environments to enable us achieve these commitments within record time,” said.
