Anambra: NGO commissions health post, gifts scholarships to 100 indigent pupils

Onyinyeomachukwu Empowerment Foundation, a Non-governmental organisation, Monday, commissioned a health facility and gifted scholarships to 100 indigent primary school pupils in Anambra state.

The Foundation, which said the scholarship was targeted at laying good foundation for the children of less privileged in the society, distributed over 700 basic cleaning kits containing toothpaste and brushes, hand wash, and sanitizer, among other materials, to equally encourage children to live a clean and healthy lifestyle.

The founder and chairperson of the Foundation, Ambassador Onyinye Gift Uwaechia, who explained that the beneficiaries were pupils of varying classes at Living Christ Nursery and Primary School, Onitsha, the commercial city of the state, added that the Health Post would serve the people in the locality.

According to her, the foundation was committed to impacting positively on people’s lives as well as sensitising the younger generation to take responsibility for their environment and health.

Also speaking, the wife of Anambra State governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, who was represented by the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHDA), Pharm. Chisom Uchem urged people to maintain healthy living to enjoy a healthy life.

According to her, maintaining a healthy living requires a firm decision to sacrifice certain unhealthy habits that do not go well with your body formula because to live healthy is to live happily.
