FG partners World Bank on youth development, entrepreneurship  

Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, has reiterated her ministry’s synergy with the World Bank with a view to making positive impacts on the Nigerian youths.

The minister made the declaration when a delegation of World Bank West African paid her a working visit in her office Abuja over the weekend. 

The minister appreciated the World Bank for ensuring that Nigerian youth are better equipped with entrepreneurial skills to better their lives.

“When it comes to skills that we want to pass on, we need to be a bit synergistic and not to duplicate efforts of other industries,” she advised.

The minister added that the EU has invested over 45 million Euros in the jubilee fellowship programme and that it was an investment they would like to see tangible results from.

Leader of the delegation, Tekabe Ayalew Belay, said their focus is on youth employment and skills engagement, adding that their key objectives were to review challenges of youths in emerging market and also look for ways through which the government can address some of these problems among this age population.

He stressed that, there was the need to boost the skills of the Nigerian youth as the collaboration aimed to provide a comprehensive report with a focus on data-driven insights and collaboration with the youth ministry.

 “We need to have institutional structures in place so that the government can make credible impacts,” he said.
