FG donates N25m veterinary clinic tools to Katsina community

The federal government has donated a modern veterinary clinic with working tools worth N25million to Baure community in Katsina state. The donation was announced yesterday through the Executive Secretary, Border Community Development Agency (BCDA), Engr. Numoipre Wills in Katsina. Wills, while handing over the clinic to the Katsina state government said the donation was part of the Agency’s efforts in providing socio-economic infrastructure to communities.

He said the agency was prepared to cater for the developmental needs of the teeming populations of people living in the border areas of Nigeria. According to him, the agency is targeting 21 states of the federation with 105 local government areas with over 2000 communities that constitute the border communities in Nigeria. He said the aims of the donation was to assist the inhabitants of these communities, “who have long been grossly neglected over the years”, adding that the agency was identifying areas with abject poverty and deplorable conditions.

He said another 10 communities would benefi t from various projects in Katsina state from the 2017 budget of the agency and they include, solar light, skill acquisition centre, schools and primary health centres. In his response the state Deputy Governor, Alh Mannir Yakubu, said the state would provide specialist veterinary doctors and adequate drugs to the centre. Yakubu said the centre would equally reduce rural urban migration, cross border crimes, but promote cross border trade. The House of Representative member representing the area Hon. Nasiru Sani Zango Daura, said the project was single handedly initiated to assist the people of the communities. He pledged to provide all the necessary assistance for the smooth running of the centre.
