Police detectives in Zuba, at the weekend, arrested a fake female Mobile Police officer allegedly attached to Mopol 45 at Zuba Park.
According to Zuba Divisional Police Officer and Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Femi Adelegan, the fake female police, who was identified as Mary Esiyen, was arrested on March 13 at about 13.30hrs at Zuba following a tip off.
Adelegan said the impostor had used the police uniform to defraud innocent Nigerians to the tune of over N5 million before luck ran out of her.
He said the suspect, who is a tailor at Mararaba, Nasarawa state, was found with a lot of police equipment except weapons.
The DPO, who said the case had been transferred to Command Headquarters, said the matter would not be treated with disdain since it was it a capital offense and she had already been paraded before journalists.
Speaking with journalists on her arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, confirmed that the woman was arrested at Zuba Motor Park as members of the public alerted the police, when they noticed she was not acting as areal Nigerian Police personnel.
“There is this young lady who has been parading herself as a police mobile officer of Mopol 45. When the information got to the DPO in Zuba, the woman, who had all the kits of police including identity card was apprehended.
“She has been parading herself in Zuba motor park and information came to us that they were not too sure from her mannerisms and that got some people suspicious,’’ Inalegwu added.
The deputy commissioner of Police, DCP Danmallam Mohammed, said the
case is under investigation.
Mohammed also disclosed that the Command had arrested 25 suspects in 10 cases and recovered 7 cars, 210 cow, six arms, 11 ammunition, and 4,860 metres of roofing tiles, 4 machetes and N301, 500 cash.
