Ex-agitators vow to end pipeline vandalism, kidnapping in Akwa Ibom

Former agitators under the aegis of Forum for Ex-Agitators ,Akwa Ibom chapter, has vowed to secure pipelines against vandals even as it expressed its readiness to partner with the state government in addressing security concerns across the state.

The forum’s chairman, Dr. Albam Paulinus, told reporters during the official inauguration of the forum in Uyo on Wednesday that the forum was out to change the narrative in the area of security.

He noted that the members were ready to gather intelligence in their communities, units and wards, and report it to security agencies.

He warned that the forum will not allow sea pirates, kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and other criminal elements to make advances to cripple the economy and peaceful atmosphere of the state.

The chairman added that the forum will not hesitate to punish any erring member who may want to sabotage the aims and objectives of the organisation.

“Akwa Ibom ex-agitator has been yearning for a platform to make a contributory effort in sustaining the peace in the state.

“As an organisation, we are ready to partner Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom state in tackling all social vices to help maintain and sustain the peaceful atmosphere in the state.

“We want to help make Akwa Ibom state an investor’s haven because where there is no peace and security, investment cannot thrive.

“We have all it takes, including all the intellect to help manage security crisis in the state. We will not tolerate any forms of illegalities and social vices like cultism, sea piracy, kidnapping, rape, oil bunkering and among others, we will nib it on bud,” he added.
