Equity increasing by N283bn

By Amaka Ifeakandu Lagos Investment in the nation’s equity market yesterday continued in high profi le, gaining N273 billion. Specifi cally, market capitalisation of listed equities improved by 2.95 per cent to N9.522 trillion from N 9.249 trillion recorded on Tuesday. Also, All Share Index appreciated by 790.47 basis point to 27546.68 against 26756.21 traded the previous day. Investors for the day traded 584.119 million shares worth N5.651 billion in 5121 deals against 539.232 million shares cost N2.815 billion in 4519 deals. An analysis of the transactions for the day indicated that Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table for the day, gaining N38.00 to close at N798.00, Total Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N6.00 to close at N255.00, Dangote Cement Industry appreciated by N4.01 kobo to close at N166.01, Nigerian Breweries gained N4.01 kobo to close at N136.01 kobo, 7UP Bottling Company Old added N3.00 to close at N105.00. On the other hand, Lafarge Wapco recorded the highest loss for the day, shedding N3.42 kobo to close at N46.18 kobo, Air Service trailed with a loss of N0.24 kobo to close at N4.73 kobo, CCNN depreciated by N0.07 kobo to close at N4.66 kobo NPF Micro Finance Bank down by N0 .05 kobo to close at N1.33 kobo while Jail Bank fell by N0.05 kobo to close at N1.00. Th e investment for day further showed that United Bank for Africa has recorded highest volume of activities for the day, exchanging 104.124 million shares worth N669.850 million. Diamond Bank plc followed with account of 53.930 million shares valued at N48.776 million, Zenith International Bank traded 50.010 million shares valued at N841.222 million Flour Mills Nigeria Plc exchanged 46.689 million shares cost N842.519 million while Access Bank plc sold N45.810 million shares worth N341.125 million.
