#End SARs: AMAC chair appeals to protesters to engage govt

The chairman Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, has appealed to Nigerian youth protesting on the street to embrace peace by engaging the government in dialogue and give them at least two months to treat their request one after the order.

Candido made the appeal at a press briefing at the council secretariat, area 10, Abuja, Tuesday. He called on the youth, particularly their leaders not to allow hoodlums to hijack the protest and spoil their good motive of sanitising the system in the country.

“Am appealing to the #End SARs protesters to use dialogue with government as their tool to win their battle, give the government two months to solve your request one after the order. If the critical assets that were put in place for years are destroyed, it would take time to replace them.  For that reason, I am pleading with you  to give the government the benefit of doubt for peace to reign supreme,” Candido said.

He however called on the traditional institutions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), particularly those of  AMAC extraction to engage the youths in their communities with talk so that peace can reign.

He commended the FCT indigenous groups for not participating in the #End SARs protest, saying that the area council is behind them in all their agitations
