Empowering Dreams: Kano deputy governor sponsors over 300 students

In the lively town of Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, aspirations soared high as students from diverse backgrounds dreamt of pursuing higher education to fulfil their ambitions. Yet, for many, financial constraints loomed as a barrier to realizing these dreams.

However, amidst these challenges, hope shone bright, thanks to the compassionate vision of Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo. 

With a deep-rooted commitment to education and empowerment, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam launched a groundbreaking initiative to sponsor about 350 students for national diploma courses at the School of Environmental Studies Gwarzo.

The sponsorship extended beyond Gwarzo LGA and touched other surrounding councils like Kabo, Karaye, Bichi, and Bagwai, among others. 

Understanding the transformative power of education, Comrade Gwarzo believed in providing opportunities for every young mind to flourish and contribute to the nation’s progress.

Word spread like wildfire across the town, igniting a spark of optimism among aspiring students and their families. 

Hopeful faces lined up at the School of Environmental Studies Gwarzo last weekend, clutching their dreams and aspirations, as they eagerly awaited to receive their admission to undergo the studies of Pre-ND, ND, and HND respectively.

Among them was Ibrahim, a determined young man from a modest background, whose passion for the study of quantity survey burned brightly despite the financial hurdles he faced. With a heart full of hope, he submitted his application, his eyes reflecting the unwavering resolve to carve a better future for himself and his family.

Months passed, and the day of the announcement arrived, filling the air with anticipation and excitement. Gathered in an open space at the School of Environment, adorned with the colours of promise and possibility, the Deputy Governor stood before a crowd of eager students, their dreams hanging on his every word.

With a warm smile, Comrade Gwarzo announced the names of the selected candidates, including Ibrahim, whose eyes sparkled with gratitude and disbelief. At that moment, a wave of joy swept through the venue, as dreams that once seemed distant now stood within reach, thanks to the unwavering support of Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam.

As Ibrahim embarked on his journey towards a brighter tomorrow, supported by the Deputy Governor’s sponsorship.

The seeds of empowerment planted by Deputy Governor Comrade Abdussalam began to blossom, as students from every corner of the local government dared to dream, knowing that with his support, the sky was the limit.

In his unwavering commitment to education, the Deputy Governor illuminated the path towards a future where every young mind could thrive, igniting a beacon of hope that would illuminate generations to come.

The Deputy Governor, acknowledging the relevance of post-secondary education in Gwarzo LGA, recounted his efforts in championing the establishment of the School of Environmental Studies, Kano State Polytechnic during his tenure as the Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area.

With courage, dedication, and consistency, the Deputy Governor implored the then Governor of Kano State, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to approve the establishment of the school. 

Sen. Kwankwaso, an icon with foresight and a priority for education, advised the establishment of the School of Environmental Studies in Gwarzo, considering its beneficial results for the local council.

Deputy Governor Gwarzo urged parents and stakeholders to prioritize the education of their wards, emphasizing its paramount importance.

He also charged the newly sworn-in interim Chairmen to return to their respective Local Government Areas and devise initiatives aimed at enhancing education in Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.

Furthermore, he enlightened students about the significance of studying at a Polytechnic, highlighting that it goes beyond obtaining a certificate. Instead, students will acquire entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to be self-reliant and potential employers of labour.

In a fatherly tone, Deputy Governor Gwarzo admonished the beneficiaries to judiciously utilize the knowledge they will acquire and, by extension, use it for the positive development of their communities, Kano State, and Nigeria at large. 

Caretaker chairmen of Kabo, Bichi, Bagwai, Tsanyawa, Rogo and Karaye local government areas among others graced the colourful occasion.
