Election tribunal receives 34 petitions in Niger, holds inaugural session

The Niger state National Assembly and state House of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal 2023 has received 34 petitions, assuring that it will do justice in all the petitions without fear or favour.

The chairman of the panel of the tribunal, Justice Angela Ataluka, stated this Tuesday at the inaugural session of the election petitions tribunal held at the Niger state High Court complex, Minna.

“It is our commitment to ensure that every participant and stakeholder in the election matters will be given a level playing ground to handle their cases and exhibit their prowess within the limited time of 180 days as prescribed by law,” she said.

She added that the procedure to be adopted in the preparatory period for filing election petitions and responding to it is strict , adding that it gives no room for mistakes.

Justice Ataluka advised all learned counsels to arm themselves with the schedule order/ report/ guidelines and come with them every day for trial.

She said: “Your cooperation with the bench is highly needed to help in the building and strengthening of the framework of the democracy of our country, Nigeria.”
