EKEDC set to sign MoU with USAID

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced its intention to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The company said the move was aimed at enhancing service delivery and customer satisfaction.
According to the company, the pact will guarantee a technical assistance from USAID under the US government funded Power Africa Transactions and Reforms Program (PATRP) Inc.

It said the PATRP designed to bring more electricity to Sub-Saharan Africa through utilisation of transaction centred approach, was a five technical assistance project being implemented by Tetra Tech Inc.
It further explained that under the pact to be signed this year, USAID the technical assistance would cover the provision of management support to address losses, strengthen management controls and enhance the required performance turnaround.
It said the assistance would also help demonstrate loss reduction strategies as well as other improvements that would serve as a demonstrative effect for other distribution companies in the country.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting between EKEDC and Tetra Tech Inc. in Lagos, the President of Tetra Tech Inc., Dean White said Tetra Tech had a rich background of experience of partnering and managing power utilities in Africa.
He said the company was looking forward to a successful partnership with EKEDC.
Chairman, Board of Directors of EKEDC, Charles Momoh, said the company would continue to do everything possible to bring about the desired turnaround in the power situation of the country especially in the company’s franchise area.
