Edo: NSE warns against quackery


The Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) has assured the people of Edo state of building infrastructural to specifications in a manner that would ensure their safety.
Benin branch chairman of the association, Engr. Omoregie Ehigie, gave the assurance during the inauguration of the Edo State Technical Committee (ESTC) and Expatriate Monitoring Committee (ESEMC) on engineering regulation.


Omoregie commended members of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) for their role in ensuring that engineering practice in the country was standardised, and in line with global best practices.

He urged the newly inaugurated members to justify the confidence reposed in them and ensure that they perform their assignment with maximum commitment and credibility.
According to him, “I want to also use this opportunity to tell the general public that things are not going to be the way it use to be. 
“Our Engineers are ready to do things differently and to make sure the safety of every Edo people are intact.

“With this inauguration, the era of mediocrity should be gone. I am tired of people who don’t have the relevant training, calling themselves engineers; engineering is a serious subject and it’s like the practice of medicine.”
Earlier, President of COREN, Mr. Ali Rabiu, noted that all practicing engineering firms are now required to obtain their COREN practicing licence as a condition for pre-qualification for any engineering job in Nigeria.
