Edo family wants female children to undergo purification exercise

The Ekhator family of Arogba community in Benin City, Edo state, has called on all female members of the family to come back and participate in the lineage purification exercise or face the wrath of their ancestors.

Speaking, Sunday, the head of the family and high priest of Ekhator Ancestral Shrine, Chief John Ekhator, said: “There have been several publications informing families of this important purification exercise, but most of the family members decided to abscond and avoid the exercise.

“Newspaper publications were made in 2020 and 2021 to inform the families who failed to bring their daughters to Arogba community for the annual purification exercise.

“It is mandatory for all the families and Miss Acha Ahmed to bring her daughter, Victory Osagbemweorhe Ekhator, to Arogba community for emergency purification exercise scheduled for September 24, 2022 from 4.00pm to 6.00pm to go through purification exercise at the ancestral shrine to avert the calamities in the community.

“Please, be informed that if Miss Acha Ahmed and other absconding families refuse to bring their daughters to Arogba community for this important and emergency purification exercise, they will face the consequences of our ancestral curse,” he said.
