Ahead of Edo state 2024 governorship election, a non-governmental organisation, African Green Peace Initiative, has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against handing its ticket to unappealing candidate.
The group also warned against any consensus arrangements geared to sacrifice competence.
Coordinator of the group, Dr Uzoya Okuogbosun, stated this while addressing journalists at the secretariat of Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo state council.
Okuogbosun called on the APC to give ex-governor, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, its gubernatorial ticket for the 2024 elections because he has the vision to redeem the state.
He said: “It is going to take a human and visionary personality like Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, to redeem Edo state from the current decay, hopelessness and deadly existence.”
Comparing Osunbor with former governor of the defunct Bendel state, Professor Ambrose Alli, the coordinator stated that the gubernatorial aspirant is God- fearing and self-effacing leader.”
