NCPF inaugurates 6 committees for zone’s emancipation, development

A group, North Central People’s Forum (NCPF), Wednesday, inaugurated six different committees for the emancipation and the development of the region.

The six committees which have 44 members are on youth empowerment, women’s development, media and publicity, economic development, and research, strategy, and planning.

Inaugurating the committees at the forum’s office in Abuja, the chairman of the forum, Sani Ndanusa, called for a strategic voice to promote social security in the north-central region.

He said members of the six committees were drawn from different backgrounds to use their expertise to move the zone forward and boost its economic activities.

“We are happy that we as a body are now so strong and we are pushing for most of the developmental issues quickly developmental, economic, security, and all that concerns our zone.

“I must say those committees that we set up are coming up at the right time when we need a detailed discussion on subjects ranging from economics to the blue one. We’re also part of the blue economy; we are also part of the green, because of the agriculture and mineral resources in the country.

“So, we must take full advantage of the current trend in the country to position ourselves. We know the values of the economic advantage that we have in the zone. We have hydro capacity because all the hydro dams in Nigeria today are in North central. What are we getting out of it?

“We have all the solid minerals that you can talk of in the country. So, we must come together and also we must harmonise our trade, and we are also working in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce to promote the social economic development of our people.’’

Also speaking, the Secretary of the forum, Alhaji Khalid Bolaji, expressed confidence in the ability of the members of the six committees to deliver on the task assigned to them.
