Ebonyi NUJ inaugurates new excos

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi state chapter Tuesday sworn in her new executive members.

The swearing – in took place at NUJ secretariat otherwise known as  Sam Egwu press center  after a successful election which all the contestants were unopposed.

New executives of the union are Mr Tony Nwizi G, Chairman from Ebonyi state Broadcasting Corporation (EBBC), Benjamin Nworie Vice chairman, Mr NNAMDI Akpa Secretary and Godwin Aliuna Financial secretary are of Correspondent chapel.

Others include Mrs Chinaza Peculiar John Assistant secretary from Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mrs Sylvia Igiri Tressure, information chapel, while Mrs Juliana Okoro, Internal auditor is of Unity FM.

While swearing-in the seven-man exco, Comrade Ken Ofoma Secretary of the NUJ in charge of the Zone C (South-east), praised the Ebonyi State Council for a successful election and inauguration.

 He tasked council members to lend their support to the new team, while urging the new executives not to allow their personal interest to override the collective interest of the union.

Speaking on behalf of the new officers, the chairman, Comrade Tony Nwizi pledged that the new executive will sustain the tempo of good leadership of his Predecessor, Veronica Osim.

He also pledged to uphold the integrity of the union by eliminating quackery and raising the image of the profession in Ebonyi.

The Chairman also made his first appointment immediately. He announced the appointment of Mr Felix Uka of Authority Newspaper as Ex-Officio member 1 and Sir Emmanuel Item of Afikpo Today chapel as Ex-Officio member 2.
