Ngwogwo community in Ivo local government of Ebonyi state, Thursday, petitioned Governor Francis Nwifuru over alleged intimidation and disruption of peace in the area.
The people also petitioned the state Commissioner of Police, Augustina Ogbodo.
The people comprising of old men,women and youth registered their grievances through protest to the old government House and the police headquarters, Abakaliki the state capital.
They also tendered a written petition to the Governor through the state Commissioner for Boarder security and Conflict resolution, Dr. Donatus Illang.
Chairman of the community, Ogbonna Sunday Okeke said they decided come to the state capital to register their grievances to Nwifuru and the state Commissioner of police.
“We are here today to let our dear Governor to know what we are passing through in the hand of our son, the former commissioner for Information ,Uchenna Orji.
“We are still enjoying the peace our Governor brought to our community by making sure that there was an election when some persons like Orji did everything for the election not to hold.
“But Uchenna Orji has vowed that that peace will not last,
“We don’t want crisis anymore in our community.
” Orji said that unless we pay allegiance to him as new exco of Ngwongwo community that we will know no peace.
“Uchenna Orji is the only big fish in government we have in our community. What we need from him is government attention/projects. He should stop bringing crisis to our community.
“What we need in our community is development, peace and progress. We don’t need crisis anymore. If Uchenna Orji continues to cause crisis in our community through indiscriminate arrest of our sons and daughters, we will have no option than to banish him, he will face us squarely.
He accused Orji of arresting three members of the community including Ajah Ndubuisi, Maduabuchi Igwe and Nnamdi Chukwu three days ago without committing any offence
Addressing the people, the Commissioner for Boarder security and conflict resolution,Donatus Illang promised the people that government of Francis Nwifuru will do all it takes to ensure peace reign in the community
He said, “The only thing government want to assure you people is their continuous support. Government will ensure that there is peace in Ngwongwo and I don’t think that there is anybody that will bring crisis at Ngwongwo.
“I want to tell you people that all we want is peace, our Governor wants peace, Ebonyi state wants peace.
“I want you to understand that Uchenna Orji is a Son of Ngwongwo people, when you get home tell your sons and daughters that our governor want peace.
“Since you people came in this form we assure you that their will be peace in Ngwongwo. Anytime there is anything in Ngwongwo you people should let the governor know, the government is always with your community because it is part of Ebonyi state. The state benefits good things from Ngwogwo and goodness will always come to you”.
