Easter: Delta Police command deploys 5,883 personnel

Delta state Police Command has deployed 5,883 police officers for crime prevention and control as Christians celebrate Easter.

In a statement signed by the command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ali Muhammed, said police will cover places of worship and recreation centers, so as to ensure hitch free celebration.

The police chief said, “Members of the public are hereby implored to cooperate with officers deployed, as they are under instruction to be civil, polite but firm in ensuring the security and safety of travelers and other road users across the state. The Commissioner of Police while wishing all Christians faithful happy Easter celebrations in advance rejoiced with the Christian community as they have Easter celebration which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

However, CP wishes to enjoin Christian leaders within the state to ensure that throughout the services, all Christian faithful keep to COVID-19 protocols in their various places of worship to help the state in its fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
