DSS, NSCDC personnel exchange blows in Edo, one injured 

A bloody clash between operatives of Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has left a female operative of NSCDC severely wounded.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 10.30am Monday at the Edo Specialist Hospital, Benin City.

While the NSCDC personnel are stationed at the hospital premises to provide security for the facility, the DSS personnel had rushed one of its operatives to the hospital for urgent Medicare.

The DSS personnel was said to have slumped at the operatives office and needed urgent medical attention.

Blueprint gathered that trouble started after DSS operatives who brought their ailing colleague to the facility alleged unprofessional response by medical personnel.

Tension was said to have heightened after the NSCDC personnel and a private guards tried to intervene in the ensuing altercation between the medical personnel and the operatives.

It was gathered that the development thereafter led to a physical combat between the two security agencies.

At the end of the melee, unspecified number of persons reportedly sustained injuries, including a female personnel of the NSCDC.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr David Odiko, said the patient was promptly attended to by the doctor on duty.
