Dino escapes another assassination attempt in Kogi

Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West at the National Assembly yesterday allegedly escaped another assassination attempt on his life as unknown gunmen allegedly open fire on his car.
The Senator who arrive Kogi State on Wednesday morning was in his constituency to commission over 143 projects scattered across the seven local government areas that constitute the senatorial district.
It was reliably gathered that the senator was on his way to Isanlu in Yagba East local government council to commission some projects when some gunmen prevented him from entering the town.
According to the source, Senator Melaye who left his country home at Ayetoro-gbede on Thursday morning met road block with heavy truck shortly before Isanlu as the gunmen also set up burn fire with tyres blocking any one moving into the town.

Aba Abuja Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev.
Uja Tor Uja, has urged Nigerians to ensure that they “do everything to protect the image and integrity of the nation.” He made the call on Wednesday in Abuja management of Leadership Group Newspapers, led by its Group Managing Director, Mr.
Abdul Gombe, paid him a courtesy visit.
According to the NCPC boss, “we must not only own this country, but we must labour to make this country the land of our dream.” Uja urged the youth to refocus their minds on Nigeria, adding that “we have no intention that Nigerians should relocate to another country unreasonably.” He solicited for partnership with the Leadership Group that would help the Commission to fight abscondment of Pilgrims during pilgrimage, saying “we have resolved that whatever it will cost us to fight abscondment we will do it.” Earlier, the Group Managing Director told the Executive Secretary that their visit was to thank him for all the support and patronage the Commission had given to the paper.
He said the meeting was premised on the need to “seek engagement, partnership and synergy” that would enhance a long-lasting relationship between the two organisations.
Gombe added that the “peculiar and sensitive nature of pilgrimage requires serious enlightenment, education and advocacy that would galvanise the people to key into pilgrimage.” He noted that Leadership, as one of the leading newspapers in the country, had the “capacity to provide service to NCPC as an integrated newspaper and promised to dedicate a page for Christian pilgrimage in the paper “where opinions, features and news would be published.” He urged the NCPC boss to explore the resources of the newspaper, including its outsource company.
The Senator who noticed the antics of the gunmen turned back to Ayetoro-gbede with his entourage.
Earlier on Tuesday, some thugs had threatened to kill him if he venture step his foot in Kogi state.
However, some of his projects located in Lokoja which were to be commissioned by the senator were razed while some were vandalized by some thugs.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relation Officer, Kogi state Police Command, Mr.
William Ayah when contacted about the incident said his office was not aware of the attack.
