Deployment of hunters in North-east reduced crime – NHFSS

The Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) has said massive recruitments and deployments of hunters in the North-east region of the country helped to reduce forest crimes.

Speaking to journalists, the zonal commande, North-east zone, ACG Haruna Umaru Hammanjoda Furo, said hunters now battle criminal elements which he described as bigger animals in the forests.

He said over 50,000 hunters now ensured that the six states in the North-east region were protected from insurgents who committed crimes and ran into the bushes and forests for cover.

He added that hunters have ensured that forests in Bauchi, Borno, Adamawa and other states are devoid of kidnappers, armed-robbery gangs and other daredevils.

He said about 400 hunters were recently recruited in Yobe state, while Bauchi state governor, Senator Bala Mohammad, assisted hunters.

He said last week, Governor Mohammed gave N110 million to hunters in the 20 local government areas of the state.

He also said he donated  17 Hilux Utility Vehicles and over 300 motorcycles to hunters for operational efficiency.
