The Minister of Defence, Maj. – Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (retd), says the leadership quality of President Muhammadu Buhari, has earned the country a pride of place among comity of nations.
A statement by the minister’s media aide Mohammad Abdulkadri on Sunday, said Magashi described Buhari as a man of high integrity with uncommon sagacity in rendering patriotic service to the nation.
He outlined the footprints of Buhari in the nation’s history to include provision of modern fighting equipment for the military in aid of counter – terrorism, counter- insurgency and anti – banditry campaigns.
The Minister said Buhari’s unwavering to the military has boosted the fighting and firing power of the Armed Forces in dealing decisively and aggressively with threats to national territorial integrity, peace and prosperity.
While congratulating the President at 80, he said Nigerians are proud of his intimidating pedigree for raising the bar service and sacrifice to the nation by providing the right leadership.
Magashi described him as an enigma of a sort whose uncompromising defence and stance for the unity and indivisibility of the country is undoubted as a trustworthy Nigerian.
The minister acknowledged the impacts of the policies and programmes under his watch with specific reference to the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund, (PIDF) which he said has changed the narrative in reducing the infrastructural deficit in the country.
He said over seven years of his administration has also emplaced new economic policies that are promoting the ease of doing business as well as Fas tracking national rebirth in financial discipline, probity and accountability in the running of government at all levels.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to preserve the life of President Buhari to mark many more years on the surface of the planet to continue to discharge meritorious and unblemished service to the nation and humanity.
