Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state has presented a budget proposal of over N104, 922,472, 305 billion for the 2018 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
Dankwambo, while presenting the budget on Friday to the state House of Assembly presided over by the Speaker, Nasiru Abubakar Nono, said it would “enhance growth and economic development of the state”.
He said that the recurrent expenditure for the 2018 budget was N51.9 billion, while the capital expenditure is N52.9 billion to be financed by statutory allocations, internally generated revenue and internal and external debt.
Education sector, according to the budget, has the highest allocation of N31.4 billion earmarked for investment in both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education.
Dankwambo said the budget tagged; “Budget of Enhance Growth and Development,” was in line of his administration effort to enhance growth and development of the state.
He said the 2017 budget has recurrent performance of 66.46 per cent, while capital expenditure has 38.88 per cent performance and a total performance of 2017 budget at 54.36 per cent as at October 31.
Responding, the Speaker, Abubakar Nono thanked the governor for his effort towards the development of the state and assured the determination of the law makers to work with the executive for the development of the state.
