CSP Daniel Amah gets special promotion for rejecting $200,000…gifts N1m cash as integrity reward

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has granted a special promotion to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Daniel Amah, for rejecting $200,000 bribe offer by a robbery suspect in Kano state.

He was elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) barely two months after he was decorated with his present rank.

Amah, who was the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Bompai Division when the case of robbery was reported, was also rewarded with N1 million cash, as integrity reward.

President Muhammadu Buhari, last month, conferred the public service integrity award on CSP Amah, who had earned commendation honours by two former Inspectors General of Police, and the current police boss IGP Usman Baba.

Presenting a plaque of honour to Amah during the commission’s plenary meeting, Thursday in Abuja, PSC acting Chairman, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi (retd), said the honour was well deserved.

“Today is a very great day…we are highly-honoured

It is something that is well-deserved. It’s an exhibition to show Nigeria that we have people of honour, who can make Nigeria proud. We want others to emulate the officer.

“Even in the comity of nations, people should know that we have people of honour among Nigerians.

“The manner and attitude put forward by our young officer, is in tandem with what President Buhari has been preaching about integrity,” Ogunbiyi said.

She further stated, “On our own part, we thought we should do more, and as such, we will also promote him (special promotion). We are promoting him to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). In addition, we are also presenting him with a cash award of N1 million.”
