Civil Society groups under the auspices of Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) for Transparency in Governance have commiserated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, over the death of his mother.
A statement issued by the group’s Executive Director of Strategy and Propaganda, Comrade Philip Agbese, said the incident took place at a time the minister needed her prayers most in the Transformation of the Federal Capital Territory to a world class city centre.

The statement added that the minister should, however, be consoled by the fact that his mother left some indelible footprints that all Nigerians had come to benefit from within the shortest period of time, and prayed for the repose of her gentle soul.
The Coalition also enjoined the minister never to waver in his “courageous and fearless posture” of addressing the challenges facing Nigerians, particularly residents and visitors to the territory.

The statement said: “We received the news of the demise of the mother of the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed with a heavy heart knowing full well what his mother means to him in prayers and selfless advice in his Transformational Agenda of the city centre and its environs, it is indeed a very deadly blow to the entire administration of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

“The Civil Society has long adopted the FCT as a father, son, mother and daughter and wishes to condole with the family not to see Mama’s demise less than the will of God Almighty at this point in time but an act to challenge him to do more for humanity knowing full well that all men will return to the creator one day and give account of his stewardship while on earth.”

It charged Mohammed to remain focused, fearless courageous and committed in his duties to ensure that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan “does not only succeed but adds more value to all Nigerians who have one business or the other to do with the capital territory.”
