Crisis hits Imo Assembly as Speaker suspends 6 Lawmakers

Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Paul Eneziem, Thursday, suspended six lawmakers in the Assembly.
The suspended lawmakers are former majority leader, Hon Uche Ogbuagu of Ikeduru; Hon. Onyemaechi Njoku of Ihitte Uboma; Hon Philip Ejiogu of Owerri North; Hon.Dominic Ezerioha of Oru West; Hon Anyadike Nwosu of Ezinihitte and Hon. Kennedy Ibeh of Obowo state constituencies.

Also, the Chief Whip, Hon Arthur Egwim, of Ideato North state constituency was relieved of his position and replaced with Hon Obinna Okwara of Nkwerre state constituency.
This was followed up with dissolution of all standing committees in the Assembly.
Blueprint reports that as soon the six lawmakers were suspended, sporadic gun shots were heard outside the Assembly building as though it was a war front and this made lawmakers, Assembly staff, journalists and visitors to scamper for safety.
